Welcome to Cairn Press...

Since we only publish one or two titles per year, we are very selective. Therefore, a reader can be sure that any Cairn Press book will be awesome. Profound-like. Life changing. Intense. Beautiful. You know. Literature.

Cairn Press is not accepting submissions at this time. We are thankful for a great 2014 submission period, and all of our fantastic editorial interns who served as readers.

Check out Blood on the Floor: How Writers Survive Rejection. In this must-have anthology for any working writer, over thirty-five poets and writers from around the world chime in on the pain (and necessity) of dealing with rejection.

We are also proud to announce our forthcoming debut authors for 2015:

The debut novel by Nicole L.V. Mullis, A Teacher Named Faith, will be released in May of 2015.

Brian Alessandro's first novel, The Unmentionable Mann, is scheduled for release in July of 2015.

Meanwhile, on the home front...

You should already know about Jay Shearer's 2014 debut novel, Five Hundred Sirens. You'll be awed by this one...

Congrats to Jay! His short story "Liz" has been accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of Chicago Quarterly Review.

Jay Shearer reads during his book launch event, April 2014 at Strobe Recording Studio, Chicago.

And the rest of the press?

Matt Pine, our 2013 author, continues to wow anyone who is lucky enough to read his first novel, City Water Light & Power. If you like beautiful prose, to swoon from paragraph to paragraph and hope it never ends, this is your book. Check out his page. The interview with San Francisco Weekly is particularly, well, Matt.

Seamus Scanlon's first short story collection, As Close As You’ll Ever Be, is still blowing people’s minds with its utterly original style that is best described as literary noir. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to be an Irish killer who is pleasant, wry and slightly OCD, then you’ll want to pick up a copy. Check out his page and read a piece of flash fiction… we know you’ll want more.

Aaron Stewart is our official cover photographer, and his work graces the covers for both Matt Pine and Jay Shearer. Please check out his webpage for some jaw-dropping images by this photographer for hire.

To all the great folks we met at the AWP 2014 in Seattle, thank you so much for the support... Let's continue to help each other, promote each other, in our writing and publishing endeavors. We're all in this together.

Carry on!
